We’ve got a special chat in store for you this week. In collaboration with Our Game Magazine, we will be discussing “Player Values” which is featured in the latest issue (check out the article on page 10 of the February issue.) With their help, we will dig deep into this topic on what it is, how to measure it, and the usefulness of it in business and coaching decisions.

Q1: The Definition.

  • What is a player’s value?
  • How is a player’s value determined (on-field performance vs. off-field likability or is it a combination)?
  • Does the definition differ depending on the lens it is being looked at through (GM, coach, or player agent)?

Q2: The Measurement.

  • What are the key measurements used to determine a player’s value?
  • Would a uniform standard for measurement be of value and any ideas of what that should include?
  • Should on-field contributions be more heavily favored over off-field marketability?

Q3: The Application.

  • What impact does/would player values have on the WPS?
  • What value does player value have in the decisions for GMs, league offices, coaches, agents, and players?
  • Is there any one WPS franchise doing a better job in applying player value?
