The WPS is officially on its 11 day hiatus while the premiere players in the league are in Germany testing their skills and fortitude against the world’s best. The league wrapped up its mid-season play with two games, the Beat vs. Sky Blue and magicJack vs. the Independence.

The chat wants your thoughts on the teams’ first half performance prior to the start of the second half. And as a bonus round, we’ll take a look at the opening day of the 2011 WWC in Germany.

Q1: The Flash.

The Flash currently sit on top on the standings with 20 pts, lead the league in GPG, top three in GAA, has three players in the top 7 in the categories of goals and assists, and enter the mid-season with a loss at home.

The Independence is holding on to the second spot in the standings with 18 pts, 2nd in the league for GPG, lead the league in GAA, has two players in the top 7 in the categories of goals and assists, and enter the mid-season on a four game unbeaten streak.

Q3: magicJack.

magicJack occupy the 3rd spot in the standings with 14 pts, 3rd in the league for GPG, 6th in the league in GAA, has two players in the top 7 in the category of goals, and enter the mid-season dropping 4 of their last 6 games.

Q4: Sky Blue FC.

Sky Blue FC is tied with the Breakers for the final playoff spot with 12 pts, 4th in the league for GPG, 2nd in the league in GAA, has one player in the top 7 in the category of assists, and enter the mid-season the hottest team with a 5 game unbeaten streak.

The Beat sit at the bottom of the standings with 6 pts and enters the mid-season losing 3 of their last 4 games.

It was a light weekend in the WPS, with just two games on tap. The Independence put the hurt on magicJack, gaining ground on the Flash. The Breakers and the Beat played to a draw. Looking forward, Sky Blue will travel to Atlanta this Wednesday, as we all get ready for the start of the WWC.

It was a busy weekend in the WPS.  The Flash get beat by the Independence, suffering their first loss of the season. magicJack bounced back from their second loss. The Beat logged a better performance. Sky Blue and the Breakers stay knotted at 0. And the season’s first player of the month will be announced today.

The #WPSchat will look at the outcomes of this week’s games and May’s POTM and the nominees.
